Our Story: A Dream Rooted in Faith and Soil
In the tranquil town of Marble Hall, nestled in South Africa’s Limpopo province, two visionaries—Hennie and Gertjie de Beer—shared more than a love for wine. They shared a dream: to one day craft a wine that captured the heart and soul of the Loskop Valley, a region rich in natural beauty and agricultural heritage.
The unfolding vision
The idea first took root in 2020, a year of uncertainty for the world, but one that sparked clarity and purpose for the De Beer family. With fertile lands stretched across rolling hills and the life-giving waters of the Loskopdam, the region had long been renowned for producing some of South Africa’s finest citrus, table grapes, tobacco, and more. But to Hennie and Gertjie, it whispered untapped potential—a new chapter waiting to be written in the story of Limpopo agriculture: wine-making.
With deep faith, unwavering determination, and the right people beside them, that vision began to unfold.
Planting the First Seeds
In 2021, a significant milestone was reached. Bianca Kooij, a dedicated viticulturist who shared their passion, planted the very first wine grapes in the valley. It was more than just a planting season—it was the planting of a promise. A promise that Limpopo could produce wines that would stand proudly among the best.
From day one, every decision was guided by purpose. The vineyards were carefully chosen, the cultivars meticulously selected, and sustainable farming practices embraced. Over time, vines began to stretch their roots into the soil, absorbing the unique terroir that only the Loskop Valley could offer.
The First Harvest: A Moment of Grace
After years of preparation, care, and prayer, 2024 brought with it a moment of awe and gratitude—the first harvest. Through the will and grace of the Lord, the grapes flourished. It was a surreal experience for the team: to see bunches of ripe, sun-kissed grapes being harvested by hand, knowing this was only the beginning.
The dream had become real. Wine was no longer just a vision for Limpopo—it was in the barrel.
Our Vineyards: Where Passion Meets Precision
Today, 10 hectares of vineyards lie under the warm Limpopo sun, each row a testament to patience, hard work, and love for the craft.
The cultivars planted reflect a deliberate balance between bold reds and elegant whites:
- Grenache Blanc – crisp, floral, and full of personality
- Chenin Blanc – South Africa’s signature white, vibrant and complex
- Shiraz – rich and spicy, with depth and character
- Merlot – smooth and rounded, a crowd-pleaser
- Cabernet Sauvignon – structured, full-bodied, and age-worthy
All our vines are covered with protective nets, shielding the grapes from hail and pests, while ensuring optimal ripening. The grapes are hand-harvested during the peak summer months of January and February, preserving the integrity of the fruit and ensuring only the best bunches make their way into the cellar.
The Cellar: Crafting Wines with Heart
At the end of 2024, just before the first full-scale harvest, construction was completed on our brand-new wine cellar—a dream within the dream.
Built to accommodate both small-batch artisanal wines and larger productions, the cellar has the capacity to produce 85,000 liters of wine annually. It combines traditional techniques with modern technology, allowing our team to focus on quality over quantity, ensuring every bottle tells a story of its origin.
The cellar isn’t just a production space—it’s a place of creation, experimentation, and celebration. It’s where Limpopo’s soil, sun, and spirit are transformed into something truly unforgettable.
